This report features true stories told by recovering addicts and insightful commentary by law enforcement professionals and counselors, describes the miseries of substance abuse and methods of overcoming addiction. MAKING CHOICES. In this program, 17-year-olds Shannon and Jay openly discuss the factors that sent them spiraling into drug addiction and their subsequent attempts to recover. Dramatizations of interviews with their parents, teachers, and friends, along with reenactments of upsetting family incidents, reveal financial and abuse issues at home and an unwillingness to confront the changes in the addicts' behaviors and personalities. Step 5 or Alcoholics Addicts Gamblers Cocaine Coda Al-anon Sala Emotions Anonymous Overeaters Steps

!: Step 5 or Alcoholics Addicts Gamblers Cocaine Coda Al-anon Sala Emotions Anonymous Overeaters Steps

Step Five Admitted to God, to ourselves and another human being the exact nature of wrongs . This is step five as used by Alcoholics anonymous (AA) Narcotics anonymous (NA) Al-anon Cocaine anonymous (CA) Gamblers anonymous (GA) Emotions anonymous (EA) Sex and Love addicts (SALA) anonymous Co dependents anonymous (CODA) Overeaters anonymous (OA) recovery programs.

I was very nervous after I had written my resentments, guilt's, fears and sexual conduct. I arranged a time and I went to my sponsors house, and I shared with him over a few sessions, my moral inventory, not a life story but a moral inventory. In other words all the stuff that made me feel dis-eased!. It was painful, at times I felt I was going to burst out crying and run away!.

But courage my held me. Courage as a soldier, I saw bravery, people being involved in violence after the event, there was no reaction just, "Well, I did my job". Courage is going into a situation with the heart racing, the mouth dry, the sweat and a new panic experience, but still doing it. Well, I did it and today I am glad, it was like getting rid of a Cancer!. Cancer of the emotions, caused by resentment, guilt and fear.

My sponsor gave me a lot of feedback and never once criticized. He kept saying "you too?". What that meant was, he had done a lot of the things I had done!. When I finished he said to me, "Well, Billy, everything you shared I have heard before, you shared nothing I have not heard before from my other sponsees"

It was a burden carrying all the resentment, guilt and fear. Dave was my sponsor, but I know people who have used Priests, Rabbi's, Mullah's, Counselors etc. What is important is not to see it as an act of confession but as a learning of your character

When I admitted to God, I admitted it to my creator, I prayed that what I had learnt may be of use to my fellow humans!.

My creator wants me to be happy, joyous and free!. If I am full of resentment, guilt and fear, then it speaks for itself. I could not be truly happy; maybe I was pretending to be happy in the past!. Always behind that, the fear of impending doom!

What I also learnt from my step 4 and step 5 was to write a gratitude list. I had always been obsessed by what I did not have and what I wanted, never looked at what I had.

I had always been obsessed with people I resented, and never the people I liked!. I had always been obsessed with guilt, my badness, my self loathing. Well, after step 5 I realized I was a human being. The only person saying I was bad was me!. All I had to do was to be willing to make amends (note,it says willing!), I did not have to hurt the world, I had seen things in a different light, what it meant was; If I could go back, I would change the event. I was willing!

All my needs have been met since I did my inventory. I realized I was not happy running my business, so I stopped, it paid my taxes. The problem was that I had brothers working for me. To be happy, joyous and free meant I had to have courage and look at the long-term problems if I stayed in business. Sure, I did not want to effect my brother's finances, but I had to put myself first! I had to remember "The man who asked a question feels a fool for twenty minutes. The man who does not ask a question is a fool for the rest of his life". I felt guilty, what would my brothers think of me, but I prayed and realized that my intentions were not to harm them. So, I had to be at ease with my intentions and not their reactions!. I stopped being a prisoner of people's opinions. I realized I was in an unhappy relationship and I had to do something about that.

I never wanted to hurt my partner when I left and I had to be comfortable with that, again.

INTENTIONS

Happy, joyous and free! Did not mean that I had to put up with the unbearable, it meant getting into a way of life, which was blameless. Sure you might think that walking out of a relationship is cruel, but my intention was not to hurt. I was sure that in my step 4, that I resented a women for finishing with me, after listing that resentment I realized she had the right to do what was best for her. Just like I had the right to do what is best for me, again I state it was not my intention to harm!. After knowing how I hated that woman for finishing with me because I wanted to be liked also had I ever finished a relationship ? Yes, so who am I to point the finger ! I stayed in an unhappy relationship, which lead to resentment and unhappiness. A vicious circle!

CHOOSELIFE WALES DRUG & ALCOHOL ADDICTION RECOVERY

THIS VIDEO IS AN OVERVIEW OF THE PEOPLE THAT WE WORK WITH. IT INCLUDES STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS, THOSE THAT ARE ABSTINENT AND THOSE STILL STRUGGGLING WITH THEIR ADDICTION......Heroin addiction is plaguing our society as heroin addicts have to fund their heroin habits. The path of addiction start much earlier on in someone's life. Cigarettes are definitely a gateway drug and normally opens the door to cannabis. I really believe that cannabis is the most deceptive drug that there is. We all know that heroin kills people yet cannabis sends a message that it is an okay drug, well it is not. For most heroin users once the heroin is out of their system they then have to learn recovery techniques to overcome their habitual practises and remain consequence free from the drug. Yet when you give up cannabis the THC in the drug deposits itself in brain cells and you can suffer from flashbacks and panic attacks years later. Cannabis is not a safe drug...Cannabis is not a safe drug... Cannabis is not a safe drug....This video is designed to encourage you whether you live in Wales, England, Ireland , Scotland or anyone of those countries in the "United kingdom" or even mainland Europe. There is no part of the United Kingdom that is unaffected by drugs, from cannabis to heroin. If you are either addicted to or affected by cigarettes, cannabis, barbiturates downers, crack, heroin, opiates, methadone, subutex, methamphetamine, cocaine, meow meow, mephadrone, legal highs, alcohol, ketamine, ghb ...

    Ulcer Treatment

    !: Ulcer Treatment

Treating an ulcer is usually made combining two different methods. One is a change in the lifestyle of the person suffering from ulcer. The other one is with the help of medication that can fight against ulcer.

The most common medicine for treating gastric ulcer or duodenal ulcer are proton pumps, mucosal protective agents and drugs that block H2. If you also have an H pylori inffection, which is very common in ulcer, doctors will also use antibiotics together with those medications. There are cases when medication do not work for an ulcer. Surgery is the alternative.

The medications that are used in treating ulcer are H2 blockers, proton pump inhibitors and agents that protect the mucus. The first medication in treating an ulcer reduces the amount of your stomach acid. If you take a dose of this medicine before you go to sleep, the gastric ulcer can be cured in about two months and the duodenal ulcer faster, in almost one month. The second drug used to treat an ulcer has the role to stop the production of acid. It is more powerful than H2 blockers. It can cure a duodenal ulcer in almost two weeks. This medicine is also an alternative to ulcer patients whose H2 treatment does not work. The last medicine used to treat ulcer is the for protecting the mucous coat of the stomach from acid. Antibiotics are also used as an ulcer treatment, but only if you have a bacteria infection. The percent of recurrence of an ulcer is very big if antibacterial treatment is not used.

Nowadays, there are two types of therapy against an ulcer: the triple and dual therapy. The first ulcer therapy includes: metronidazole, four times every day, tetracycline, also four time each day and pepto-bysmol. This ulcer treatment lasts for two weeks. It has a rate of almost 90 percent effectiveness in destroying the bacteria that caused the ulcer. This ulcer therapy is also very effective because it reduce the risk of ulcer reoccurrence. The second ulcer therapy means that only two medicines are taken: amoxcillin and prolosec. This ulcer therapy also lasts for two weeks, but it has only an 80 percent effectiveness.

If any of the ulcer treatments do not give good results, doctors can use surgery. For an ulcer, the most common of the surgeries are vagotomy, pyloroplasty and antrectomy. The last two of the ulcer surgeries may be performed together.

    What Causes Sexual Addiction?

    !: What Causes Sexual Addiction?

Different factors trigger sexual addiction, otherwise known as sexual dependency or sexual compulsivity. The obsession to sexually compulsive behaviors is a complex subject and can hardly be attributed to a single cause. Sexual addiction is more likely a build up of conditions over time, such as early sexualization or early exposure of an individual to inappropriate sexual material or behavior, traumatic experiences during childhood, physical and/or sexual abuse, abandonment, or emotional trauma.

Generally, the causes of sexual addiction may be classified into three: biological, psychological, and spiritual.

Biologically, a biochemical process in the brain, affecting the pleasure and reward pathways, may trigger sexual addiction. Studies show that food, abused drugs, and sexual interests share a common pathway within the brains' survival and reward systems. Sex and food are quite similar in this sense as they are probably the most basic and fundamental human drives. Consider that without food we would die and without sex we would no longer continue our DNA into the future.

Brain chemistry has created elaborate reward systems to motivate this goal directed behavior. Sex activates the natural opioids and dopamine that produce intense pleasure and euphoria accentuating the addiction and the likelihood of continued behavior. Interestingly, modern brain imaging shows us that the brain when sexually aroused looks nearly identical to a brain under the influence of cocaine. No wonder the drive for sex is so intense. This may explain why even competent, intelligent, and goal-directed people can be so equally obsessed with indulging in sexual fantasy and seeking a sexual "fix." Their brains have been hijacked!

Psychologically, sexual addiction has become one means of adapting to physical, emotional, or sexual abuse. Most of reported sex addicts relate histories that include these psychological abuses and traumas. Emotionally for the sex addict, sex is not really about sex but a vehicle to provide an illusion of affirmation, a veneer of control and connection in a safe environment. The sexual "fix" has become the source of pleasure and a means of avoiding unpleasant feelings, a coping mechanism to fight stress, work difficulties, interpersonal, psychological, and emotional problems.

Studies reveal that most sex addicts come from dysfunctional families. The findings of one study show that 72% of sex addicts had been physically abused in childhood, 81% had been sexually abused, and 97% emotionally abused. Patrick Carnes' research also indicates that 87% of the families of sex addicts included more than one addict in the home and a majority of them grew up in a rigid family system, disengaged family system, or both a rigid and disengaged family system. The implication is that a lot of sex addicts come from families where their emotional needs were not met. They learned to self soothe and self medicate as a means of enduring some pretty awful childhood experiences.

Spiritually, sexual addiction feeds the delusion that fulfilling comfort, love, and security can be experienced apart from God. What need would they have for God if a sexual "fix" is all that they "need?" The addiction becomes the God that comforts, arouses, or helps the sex addict escape the present moment. As long as sex is an option the addict can live in the delusion of power and control and is unlikely to make the spiritual surrender necessary to experience a true spiritual experience.

These causes are many and usually overlap depending on the circumstances of the sex addict. This is why treatment of a sexual addict entails much effort and support not only from the individual but also his or her loved ones. Support and encouragement from 12 step groups and a recovery community, group therapy, and even family and friends all contribute to the treatment of the sex addict and assist the healing process.
