Some of you are confusing the movie with the game. In the movie it was explained that the "snow" was actually ash and a reason was given--in the game Dr. Kauffman refers to it as snow. The movie is in a completely different continuity that does NOT effect the continuity of the games. Harry is walking around in SNOW. Period.
